(The Post News)– The African Transformation Movement (ATM) has replaced Vuyolwethu Zungula with Professor Ceasar Nongqunga, whom they described as the beacon of hope, someone capable of establishing true democracy and holistic liberation.
Professor Nongqunga is a multiple-degree holder, including a Doctor of Theology and a Doctor of Religious Education, alongside qualifications in civil engineering and business administration.
According to the national spokesperson for ATM Zama Ntshontsha, Professor Nongqunga has extensive experience in both leadership and community services, which includes building houses, initiating agricultural projects, providing bursaries and also creating jobs. Ntshontsha noted that Professor Nongqunga’s capabilities reflect his dedication to uplifting the less fortunate.
Ntshontsha also stated that the decision was made by the National Executive Committee in its objectives of separating roles of party advocacy, with a hope to benefit organisational building.
Ntshontsha stated that the party is set for a new age of “growth and effectiveness”, with Professor Nongqunga focusing on party leadership and expansion and Hon. Zungula focusing on parliamentary leadership.
Additionally, Ntshontsha highlighted that their division strategy will allow them to address multifaceted challenges with a better approach inspired by renewed energy and clarity of purpose.
Meanwhile, Ntshontsha also complimented the outgoing leader for the work he has done for ATM as the president since 2018. She praised Zungula as the visionary leader who has been instrumental in registering the party with the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and establishing it on the political landscape of South Africa.
She elaborated that under President Zungula’s direction; the ATM has developed from its modest beginnings to a strong force, campaigning for economic development and the upliftment of the disadvantaged throughout our nation.
Moreover, under Zungula’s leadership, ATM had a stellar performance for the 2024 general elections, which saw the party growing from only two National Assembly seats in the 2019 elections to six.
Zungula will continue leading ATM in Parliament, where he will be expected by the party to continue being the advocacy for the voiceless, ensuring that their voices are heard.
