Fatal Taxi Violence Incident in Lwandle Leaves One Dead, and an 8-Year-Old Child Injured in Saturday Night Shooting Incident.
(The Post News)- An eight-year-old boy was wounded over the weekend as taxi violence flared up across parts of the Cape Town metropole. The child was struck by a stray bullet on Saturday night in Lwandle, during an incident in which a taxi driver from Strand was shot and killed.
The public relations officer for the Strand Community Policing Forum (CPF), Niklaas Thysen, stated that the police are currently investigating the shooting incident where a taxi owner was killed. The reasons behind the incident are still unclear. The Provincial SAPS Serious and Violent Crimes Unit is handling the case.
Police spokesperson Joseph Swartbooi confirmed the incident, stating that investigators believe the attack may be linked to taxi violence. According to Swartbooi, police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder.
Authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting, but the incident is being investigated as part of a broader effort to address taxi-related violence in the region.
