(The Post News)– After serving almost 3 years of his 30-year sentence for federal charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering, singer and songwriter R. Kelly’s legal team has called for President Donald Trump to commute his sentence. This comes after the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) allegedly conspired with an inmate and 3 federal officials to put an execution hit on him.
R. Kelly’s attorney, Beau B. Brindley, has remarked that no one is as bold and well-equipped as Trump to “help [them]”. According to R. Kelly’s legal team, their client was immediately subjected to solitary confinement after the motion for his pardon was made public, claiming that he’s been cut off from all commissaries and is unable to “call his family”. Furthermore, it is alleged that R. Kelly fears for his life and is sceptical about eating the food prepared in the prison’s kitchen.
Although R. Kelly is not personally or politically affiliated with Trump, his legal team hopes their pleas will be heard, as the singer was an established resident at the Chicago Trump Tower. They claim that if support is not provided, his torment will only intensify.
The courage to seek presidential assistance was prompted by Trump’s comments on Diddy’s federal case, who faces similar charges, made during an Oval Office press conference in May. During the briefing, Trump said that he would consider granting the “I’ll Be Missing You” rapper clemency because he believes that he’s being “mistreated”.
Consequently, Brindley claims that R. Kelly has been attacked in the past and currently by the BOP; therefore, his request for house arrest should also be granted. Trump is yet to respond to R. Kelly’s requests.
