(Th Post News)- Anti-Gang Unit detectives are following up on all available leads in an effort to apprehend those responsible for a fatal shooting incident that occurred earlier today, claiming the lives of three individuals.
According to SAPS, the shooting happened just after 11 am at the intersection of Merrydale Avenue and Highlands Drive. Witnesses say two vehicles pulled up and opened fire on a Honda sedan that appeared to be operating as an e-hailing service.
The driver and two passengers, a 38-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, were declared dead at the scene. All three had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but preliminary investigations suggest that the shooting may be linked to ongoing gang rivalries in the area.
Detectives from the Anti-Gang Unit have taken over the investigation and are following up on all available leads. However, no arrests have been made at this stage.
Police have appealed to the public for information that might assist in the investigation.
