(The Post News)- The uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) party has distanced itself from the “non-sanctioned” media briefing scheduled for Thursday by its recently axed Secretary General, Floyd Shivambu.
According to MK spokesperson Nhlamulo Ndhlela, the event has not been approved or communicated through the party’s official channels.
Many speculate that Shivambu intends to announce his formal resignation from MK at the briefing, after being removed from his leadership role in the party.
Responding to questions about the nature of the briefing, Nolubabalo Mcinga, a spokesperson for the event, declined to give details. “I am not going to give that information. You’ll have to attend the briefing and hear what Floyd has to say,” she said.
Following his removal from the party’s top post, Shivambu took to X to post and promote the upcoming event, hinting that he plans to “tell the truth and expose lies whenever they are told.” The post, quoting African revolutionary Amílcar Cabral, read: “Hide nothing from the masses of our people. Tell no lies. Expose lies whenever they are told. Mask no difficulties, mistakes, failures. Claim no easy victories.”
“It’s our DNA to speak the truth because the truth is Revolutionary”.
With mounting speculation over the “truth” he has promised to expose, Shivambu’s much-anticipated media briefing is set to unfold at 12 pm in Johannesburg.
