CRL Rights Commission plans to lay criminal charges against Michael Swain.
(The Post News) The CRL Rights Commission has announced plans to open a criminal case against Michael Swain, leader of the religious group Faith and Freedom for South Africa.
Commission Chairperson Thoko Mkhwanazi-Xaluva accusses Swain of making defamatory statements and insulting the Commission and South Africans on social media.
According to the Commission, Swain claimed that the RCL is attempting to regulate religion in South Africa and further
The Commission further accused Mkhwanazi-Xaluva of benefiting financially from a R1.5 million grant issued by the National Lottery Commission to the Cherly Zondi Foundation.
Cherly Zondi has disputed the claims of her organisations receiving any funding from the National Lottery Commission.
“In establishing the Foundation the National Lottery Commission had been dispensing funds to various organizations that had applied, the Cherly Zondi Foundation had not applied, I signed as a witness not as a beneficiary, I have never received any funds from the National Lottery Commission, any funds whatsoever from any Commission,” said Zondi.
Despite concerns over the National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) past failures in high-profile cases, such as Omotoso’s, The Commission is determined to see the matter through.
“I want him to be in court and explain all these things that he controls the President, he determines who is appointed where, 21 million people backing him up. He knows that I have a conflict of interest that I don’t know of,” Mkhwanazi-Xaluva said.
She emphasized “I will make sure that the system does what the system has to do. The system failed us in the Omotoso case, they are not going to fail us now”.
