Shaka iLembe continues to captivate viewers' hearts with Season 2. Nomzamo Mbatha shared via Instagram @nomzamo_m.
(The Post News)– Scoring a whopping 8.8/10 on IMDb and a 96% from Google users, South Africa’s most loved series, Shaka iLembe, is back on screens with season 2 every Sunday on Mzansi Magic, DSTV channel 161.
First stealing viewers’ hearts in June of 2023, the series is a story centred around the birth of King Shaka and his pursuit to reclaim his birth right—the throne of the Zulu Kingdom. The historical drama series was such a hit that fans eagerly anticipated the second season as soon as the first season wrapped. Though it features several renowned Zulu-speaking actors in the industry, namely Nomzamo Mbatha and Lemogang Tsipa, the performances weren’t the only thing that blew fans away.
Reportedly being the most expensive and biggest South African production to date, viewers showered the show with praise over the custom design, hair, makeup, and music, noting the creative perception of rural life within the Zulu culture. The series has proved to be much more than just an entertaining story; it offers a powerful depiction of culture, identity, and history. The season ahead is filled with many dramatic and emotional themes that will have viewers on the edge of their seats, including the story of people carving out their legacy, the true price of power, and the obstacles braved for union. Season 2 also gives us a view of Shaka’s spiritual journey in seizing the throne, as well as his infamous, chaotic love life.
New episodes of Shaka iLembe air on DStv Stream and Mzansi Magic every Sunday at 20:00 and repeat on Fridays and Saturdays at 21:30 and 20:00.
