(The Post News)- Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), has committed to building abodes and installing boreholes for the bereaved families of the ten youthful victims who perished in a calamitous bus accident. The tragedy occurred in the vicinity of Vryheid, KwaZulu-Natal, when a bus carrying ardent supporters collided with a long-haul truck, precipitating a devastating crash.
During a somber mass funeral, Malema expressed his deepest sympathies to the grieving families and pledged unwavering support. “To the families of these youthful heroes, we convey that you are not isolated. Your loss is our loss. Your tears are our tears. Your children are not forgotten,” he avowed. Malema vowed to construct proper houses replete with essential facilities and boreholes to restore the dignity of the families.
Malema excoriated the normalization of premature death in black communities and urged the nation to confront the systemic issues that perpetuate such tragedies. “Our children are not born to succumb on perilous roads; they are born to construct, create, and lead,” Malema proclaimed. He called for collective resilience and action to rectify the roads, regulate the transport industry, and hold those responsible accountable.
Malema’s impassioned speech extended beyond mourning, criticizing governmental failures in infrastructure, transport regulation, and social services. He urged South Africans to unite and push for a more just society, saying, “Our fight is not only for land and dignity but for a future where no child dies prematurely due to avoidable circumstances.”
Malema listed the names of the victims, emphasizing that these young individuals were full of promise, dreams, and hope. “They were full of life, courage, and the spirit of resilience,” he said. “Their deaths are a reminder that we must do more to protect our youth from preventable tragedies.”
Malema’s speech also touched on broader struggles, including poverty, unemployment, and systemic inequality. He expressed solidarity with oppressed peoples worldwide, condemning apartheid Israel’s actions in Gaza and celebrating African revolutionary leadership. “Our young people are the future of Africa,” Malema asserted. “They are the leaders, fighters, and builders of tomorrow. We must inspire them to continue the fight for liberation, dignity, and justice.”
