On Thursday night, Anele Mdoda hosted South Africa’s F1: The Movie premiere at the Mall of Africa. The Heineken-sponsored event was graced by several notable Mzansi celebrities, including former Miss South Africa Shudufhadzo Musida, SAFTA-winning actress Zola Nombona, and prominent actor Kwenzo Ngcobo to name a few.
F1: The movie follows Sonny Hayes (played by Brad Pitt), a retired Formula 1 driver who returns to the track for one last run and mentors a rising young star Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) along the way. The movie is said to be an adrenaline-pumping epic, featuring appearances by real F1 drivers, prominent league personnel and an impressive cast. Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles and Samson Kayo are some of the names that appear in the credits scene.
Fashion also took the spotlight at the premiere, with our favourite South African celebrities embracing F1-inspired looks. Record producer Zakes Bantwini made a statement in a Heineken-branded Formula 1 suit, while Motswako rapper Khuli Chana kept it casual yet stylish, pairing an F1 jersey with simple blue jeans.
Other Mzansi celebrities embraced the casual streetwear style the event afforded. Zola Nombona was spotted wearing a blonde wig paired with a simple two-piece faux leather-inspired set, while Shudufhadzo Musida rocked sunglasses and a sporty Adidas outfit. On the other hand, host Anele Mdoda kept it formal in a sleek, white, body-hugging dress.
F1: The Movie is now showing in cinemas across the country.
