(The Post News)– After seven rigorous weeks of evidence being presented before the court and shocking testimonies, federal prosecutor Christy Slavik delivered the state’s closing arguments in the case of sex trafficking and racketeering against rapper and producer Sean “Diddy” Combs.
On the 26th of June, Slavik spent more than 4 hours highlighting the five federal charges against the rapper, which include forced labour, transportation for prostitution, and criminal enterprise. Throughout her closing argument, the prosecutor focused on the force that Diddy used on his ex-girlfriends, Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura and “Jane”, to engage in sexual activities with male escorts as he watched. Slavik argued that the “power, violence, and fear” that Diddy used in his drug-fuelled sessions known as “freak-offs” was enough evidence to warrant a guilty verdict.
Here are some key points that prosecutor Slavik made in her closing argument:
On charges of forced labour/sex trafficking, Slavik reasoned that even though there are text messages that prove that Cassie and Jane were initially excited and enthusiastic about the “freak offs”, they later became victims who feared that Diddy would harm them physically or cut off all financial support. She also highlighted Mia’s testimony, Diddy’s former assistant, where she shared how the rapper sexually assaulted her during her employment, thus maintaining that he had “all the power”.
On charges of racketeering, Slavik argued that ‘transportation for prostitution’ was the foundational offence. She then reiterated that there was more than enough evidence to prove that Kristina Khorram, Diddy’s former chief of staff, had organised transport for escorts to hotel rooms because she knew “what was happening”.
Slavik also included Diddy’s attempts to tamper with the investigation after Cassie filed the lawsuit by turning to his trusted associates to help him “neutralise” any witnesses. She further noted that the rapper was denied bail 3 times after his persistent attempts. As Diddy faces the maximum penalty of life imprisonment, his defense team is expected to deliver their closing statements later today.
