(The Post News)- Cricket South Africa (CSA) has unveiled a 15-player Women’s Emerging Academy squad set to tour Namibia from 2–12 July for a series of white-ball matches aimed at sharpening South Africa’s next generation of stars.
The team, coached by Dinesha Devnarain, will face Namibia’s Capricorn Eagles in four T20s from 2–6 July, followed by three 50-over clashes on 8, 10, and 12 July, all taking place at the High Performance Oval in Windhoek.
The squad blends fresh faces with promising experience. Former SA U19 Women’s captains Oluhle Siyo and Kayla Reyneke headline the youth contingent, while Proteas all-rounder Delmi Tucker adds senior-level know-how.
Several players earned their call-ups off the back of standout domestic seasons. Alexandra Candler of the Hollywoodbets Dolphins led the Pro 50 run-scoring charts with 387 runs, while DP World Lions spinner Kgomotso Rapoo topped the wicket tally with 18. T20 standouts Nicole de Klerk (219 runs) and Leah Jones (14 wickets) also made the cut.
Devnarain welcomed the tour as a critical development step, especially after the group’s tough outing in Bangladesh earlier this year. “This tour continues our long-term strategy of closing the gap between domestic and international cricket,” she said, adding that playing Namibia’s senior side will provide valuable tests in both skill and mindset.
The squad departs for Windhoek on Monday, 30 June, ahead of the opening T20 on 2 July.
