(The Post News)– Joburg Water will provide water tankers to affected areas in Johannesburg from today until Wednesday to mitigate the impact of Rand Water’s maintenance work. The maintenance will impact the city’s bulk water supply systems, specifically the Eikenhof and Zwartkopies systems, which supply water to the entire City of Johannesburg. This proactive measure aims to ensure that residents have access to water during the maintenance period, despite the potential disruptions.
According to Nombuso Shabalala, spokesperson for Joburg Water, residents in certain areas may face low water pressure or a complete water outage during the maintenance. The affected areas include Soweto, Randburg, Roodepoort, Lenasia, Crown Gardens, the Commando system (which comprises Brixton, Hursthill, and Crosby), Aeroton, and Naturena. Residents are advised to be prepared for disruptions to their water supply during this time and to take necessary precautions to conserve water and minimize the impact on their daily lives.
After the maintenance work is finished, it will take a few days for the water system to stabilize and for normal services to resume. Joburg Water is working diligently to minimize the impact of the maintenance and ensure that residents have access to water during this time. The provision of water tankers is part of these efforts, and residents are encouraged to make use of them if necessary. The city’s emergency services and water management teams are also on standby to respond to any issues that may arise during the maintenance period.
Residents are urged to stay informed about the maintenance schedule and any updates on the water supply situation. By working together, Joburg Water and Rand Water aim to complete the maintenance efficiently and restore normal water services to the affected areas as soon as possible.
