(The Post News)- Members of uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) in Mpumalanga are back at the High Court in Mbombela to file for a new application to remove the leader of the MKP Mary Phadi from her position. Following allegations that Phadi misappropriated party funds.
The party argues that Phadi still uses the MKP logo and regalia despite being expelled by the party, and it is causing divisions within the party. The party further argues that the matter requires immediate attention.
Phadi was appointed Mpumalanga Provincial Convenor around October 2024, and her dismissal notice was displayed by the former Secretary General Floyd Shivambu and replaced by Busisiwe Mkhwebane after the party rejected her voluntary resignation.
In an interview with SABC, political analyst Dr. Levy Ndou says Phadi’s removal from the party was bound to happen. Additional members have also been dismissed. The MKP takes action in removing members when needed.
Her legal team, Advocate Zandile Mshololo, is contesting her explusion for the party. The court hearing is scheduled for July 8, 2025.
