(The Post News)– In one of the biggest Premier League moves of the summer, Tottenham Hotspur has agreed to pay an estimated £55 million to acquire Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United. Before agreeing to a six-year deal, the 24-year-old offensive midfielder is anticipated to have a physical at Hotspur Way on Thursday.
Following weeks of talks, the agreement marks Tottenham’s third significant purchase under new head coach Thomas Frank. Kudus, who moved from Ajax to West Ham in 2023, had a strong initial season in English football, but the 2024–2025 campaign was marked by a lack of consistency. The Ghanaian is a vital part of Spurs’ squad overhaul under Frank.
Recently, the team has also acquired Japanese defender Kōta Takai and Mathys Tel. According to a Tottenham representative, they have long admired Mohammed as a player—he is a fantastic complement for their evolving attacking system because of his power, versatility, and ability to play between the lines.
However, earlier this month, Kudus had an active release clause worth £85 million. West Ham chose to accept a lower-priced offer to meet Premier League financial requirements and finance incoming transfers under new manager Graham Potter.
According to West Ham insiders, the club wanted to reinforce numerous aspects of the squad; therefore, the decision was “reluctant but necessary.” It is agreed that Tottenham’s offer, which included acceptable payments, was too good to refuse.
