Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala Appears Before Magistrate in Alexander

(The Post News)- Vusimuzi Matlala, popularly known as “Cat” appeared before the Alexander Magistrate’s Court this morning in connection with allegations that he orchestrated the attempted murder of his former partner, actress Tebogo Thobejane in 2023.

Matlala resurfaced after the KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi publicly addressed allegations directed at Police Minister Senzo Mchunu, accusing him in interfering in police investigations related to political assassination, organized drug syndicates, and his alleged links to Brown Mogotsi and Vusimuzi Matlala. Mkhwanazi held a briefing on Sunday.

Vusimuzi Matlala is also implicated in the R360 million Thembisa Hospital corruption scandal, involving a tender awarded to him by the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The case has been adjourned to August 26th, 2025, as Matlala’s legal team requested access to further information related to the matter.
