(The Post News)- Cape Town is grappling with a deadly wave of gun violence after three people were killed in a mass shooting in Khayelitsha on Thursday night. The victims, aged 29, 30, and 43, were found in Harare, Khayelitsha. Police confirmed this was the fourth such deadly incident in less than a week.
Western Cape police spokesperson Colonel Andrè Traut said, “Provincial Serious and Violent Crime Unit detectives are following leads to track down the suspects behind the latest mass shooting that left three people dead.”
According to Traut, police responded to reports of gunfire at around 10pm on Ntlazane Road, where they discovered three victims with multiple gunshot wounds.
The motive for the latest mass shooting remains unknown, but detectives are pursuing all possible leads.
Cape Town is facing a wave of mass shootings, with this incident in Khayelitsha following three others in less than a week: in Gugulethu, Philippi East, and Bishop Lavis.
The surge in gun violence has sparked renewed calls for better policing and community safety interventions, highlighting growing concerns across the city. Authorities and residents alike are calling for urgent measures to curb the escalating violence.
