(The Post News)- The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed that five people were killed in a shooting incident that occurred last night at the Choba informal settlement in Olievenhoutbosch, Pretoria.
Preliminary reports indicate that a group of unknown armed individuals entered the tavern and began firing shots at random, targeting patrons without warning or apparent provocation. The motive behind the attack remains unclear at this stage.
Police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo confirmed that three other individuals were injured during the incident. He further stated that the suspects did not say a word while carrying out the shooting.
He indicated that authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, although the motive behind the deadly shooting remains unknown at this stage.
He further alluded that ten suspects fled the scene following the shooting incident. A manhunt has since been launched to track down those responsible.
