(The Post News)- Mamelodi Sundowns forward Lucas Ribeiro Costa walked away as the biggest winner at the 2024/25 PSL Awards on Tuesday night, bagging an impressive four awards that cement his status as the season’s standout performer.
The Brazilian attacker was named PSL Footballer of the Season and swept the Betway Premiership categories, claiming the Players’ Player of the Season, Goal of the Season, and Top Goal Scorer titles. His clinical finishing and game-changing moments were simply unmatched throughout the campaign.
Orlando Pirates’ rising star Relebohile Mofokeng also had a night to remember. The 19-year-old claimed the Betway Premiership Young Player of the Season award and added the MTN8 Last Man Standing trophy to his growing list of achievements.
In the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Muzomuhle Khanyi shone for Hungry Lions, earning both the Players’ Player of the Season and Top Goal Scorer awards. Casric Stars’ Teboho Lekhatla was celebrated as Young Player of the Season, while Durban City’s Dumsani Msibi took home Goalkeeper of the Season honours.
Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso was named Betway Premiership Coach of the Season, while Pirates’ Sipho Chaine (Goalkeeper), Nkosinathi Sibisi (Defender), and Makhehleni Makhaula (Midfielder) swept the positional awards.Kaizer Chiefs winger Pule Mmodi won Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament, with Pirates’ Mbekezeli Mbokazi and Magesi FC’s Elvis Chipezeze also recognised for their cup brilliance.
