(The Post News)- Mayibuye refutes claims made by Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Commander-in-Chief Julius Malema during his recent interview with Eyewitness News (EWN). In the interview Malema alleged that most of Mayibuye leaders, who are former EFF members were once fired from the party by the National Convenor of Mayibuye Floyd Shivambu.
In an official statement, Mayibuye dismissed the claims by EFF leader as an “opportunistic lie”, clarifying that their consultation leadership comes from diverse backgrounds.
“While some were previously affiliated to the EFF, none of our current leaders were dismissed or expelled from the EFF by the National Convenor or by any other individual,” the statement reads
Before making his claim Malema, acknowledged that some might view his comment as “high school gossip.” Mayibuye responded accusing Malema of spreading false claims.
“Mayibuye is not in the business of slander, lies and false claims. Our movement is fundamentally rooted in Amilcar Cabral’s revolutionary guidance,”
They referenced Amilcar Cabral’s principle: “Tell no lies, expose lies. Mask no failures, difficulties, or mistakes. Claim no easy victories.”
Mayibuye also released a list of 22 former EFF members who have joined its consultation process and are now serving in the NTC. The party emphasized that all those who joined Mayibuye took the decision voluntarily, guided by shared values, renewed purpose and a commitment to an ethical, people driven leadership.
Additionally the statement hinted support from people still affiliated with other political organizations.
“We are also aware that there is a considerable number of people and leaders who work for Mayibuye but stay in other organisations because they need the salaries,” the statement reads
The party didn’t miss the opportunity to respond to Malema’s swipe at Shivambu during the 12 EFF anniversary celebrations press briefing, where Malema mocked Shivambu’s claims that he was never given a chance to speak during his time at EFF.
“We are however not surprised and we will never be surprised by anything some people do. It is in their character and the whole of society will notice their true character over the few years,” read the statement.
