(The Post News)- African National Congress (ANC) Secretary General Fikile Mbalula has outlined the key outcomes of the party’s Ordinary National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, held from August 1 to 4, 2025.
Held during Women’s Month, the meeting took place against the backdrop of the 69th anniversary of the 1956 Women’s March and the 30th anniversary of a national day that highlights strides made in women’s empowerment and transformation.
Mbalula confirmed that the ANC would prioritize women’s issues throughout August, with a particular focus on tackling GBV and femicide.
The NEC also reviewed key developments affecting the economy and governance, including unemployment, inflation, infrastructure deficits, and shifting global trade dynamics.
Mbalula strongly criticized the Democratic Alliance (DA) for its economic proposals, accusing the party of promoting deregulation and policies that undermine black economic empowerment and the principles of the Freedom Charter.
He warned that the DA’s approach reflects a neo-imperialist agenda and pledged that the ANC would continue defending the country’s economic sovereignty and the rights of all South Africans to share in its wealth.
