(The Post News)- The Indian Army has paid tribute to the soldiers who were killed during a recent encounter, confirming that the operation is still ongoing. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Corps acknowledged the loss of personnel and stated that security forces are continuing efforts on the ground. The tribute comes amid intensified military activity in the region, as the Army keeps its operations to secure the area and neutralize remaining threats.
Two Indian Army soldiers lost their lives, and two others sustained injuries during an overnight gun battle with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials confirmed. The firefight occurred as part of an ongoing terrorism operation that has now stretched into its ninth consecutive day, making it one of the longest operations taking place in the Kashmir Valley in recent years. Security forces are still on high alert as the extensive search and engagement efforts continue in the region.
“The Chinar Corps paid tribute to Lance Naik Pritpal Singh and Sepoy Harminder Singh, who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Describing their sacrifice as an enduring inspiration, the Army extended its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and affirmed its continued support. The operation is still ongoing,” Chinatown Corps posted on X.
So far, one terrorist has been neutralised during the ongoing terror operation, the Chinar Corps confirmed. A week earlier, security forces had also dropped a terrorist during a prolonged overnight encounter in the Akhal area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The operation, which stays active, is being conducted as a coordinated effort involving multiple security agencies, including the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Special Operations Group (SOG). Their joint presence on the ground highlights the scale and seriousness of the operation, which has now entered its ninth day.
In a separate development, Baramulla Police uncovered a terrorist hideout in the Gogaldara-Danwas forest area. During the search operation carried out on Thursday, authorities recovered a cache of arms and supplies, including a pistol, a hand grenade, a magazine, nine live rounds of ammunition, and various medical items.
Earlier, on July 30, the Indian Army’s White Knight Corps successfully foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Poonch sector. In the ensuing operation, two suspected terrorists were neutralised as they tried to cross into Indian territory.
