(The Post News)– The Convention Co-ordinating Committee has confirmed that it will host the National Dialogue Convention, the first major public engagement of the National Dialogue process in South Africa.
The two-day event begins on Friday at the University of South Africa (Unisa) in Pretoria. Its goal is to outline and agree on the key themes that will guide the National Dialogue in addressing South Africa’s pressing social, political, and economic challenges.
Committee Chairperson Boichoko Dithlake explained that the convention will be highly inclusive. “We have arranged space for 1,000 delegates. So far, 755 individuals have received invitations from over 30 sectors and more than 200 organizations. We recognize that the initial allocation may not have fully covered all sectors,” Dithlake said.
Furthermore, the Committee will allocate 245 additional delegate spaces to organizations that requested to join the discussions. In doing so, organizers aim to ensure representation from diverse sectors, communities, and interest groups.
Dithlake emphasized that thePretoria convention is about genuine engagement. “This is not simply a series of speeches. It provides a platform where all voices, including those often unheard, can shape practical solutions,” she said.
The National Dialogue Convention will cover a wide range of issues, including governance, economic reform, social cohesion, and community safety. Organizers hope the discussions will generate actionable proposals that improve the lives of South Africans.
Overall, this convention marks a key milestone in promoting unity and collaboration. With hundreds of delegates confirmed and high expectations for constructive outcomes, the Pretoria gathering represents a vital step toward a more inclusive and solution-driven future for the country.
