(The Post News)– Ricardo Calafiori has put Arsenal one goal ahead of Manchester United in the English Premiership League (EPL) during Sunday’s match. This was the first for Arsenal in the EPL for the 2025/26 season, hosted by Man Utd at Old Trafford.
Calafiori scored an early goal at 15 minutes from a corner taken by Bukayo Saka. A volley was clapped by Altay Bayindir, making an error resulting in Calafiori heading toward the goal.
Arsenal led the first half, with Manchester dominating the play but failing to convert chances. Meanwhile, the second half saw the changes in play for Man Utd, creating chances with its new signings.
Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo had no luck scoring. Additionally, the Slovenian forward Benjamin Šeško also failed to make Arsenal pay for not securing him.
Arsenal’s coach Mikel Arteta has EPL pressure after finishing second for the past three seasons. He is expected to do the magic done in 2003/04, when Arsenal won the league.
Despite losing, Manchester fans were highly spirited, as their new signings made satisfying attacks. The cheering noise supported Ruben Amorim’s men. Although Buyindir made an error, fans seemed satisfied with André Onana’s deputy, as Onana was out on injury.
Last-minute panic put Arsenal under pressure. However, they managed to seal the game, keeping pace with Liverpool and Manchester City.
