(The Post News)- United States retired municipal judge in Rhode Island, and social media star Frank Caprio has died at the age of 88.
The Caprio family posted a statement on social media on Wednesday, 21August. The statement reveals that Judge Caprio “passed away peacefully” after “a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.” Caprio known for showing kindness when he handed out justice.
While serving on the bench, Caprio built a reputation that was opposite with the typical image of TV judges. He was more compassionate, less combative, and less quick to judge. Caprio seen as an understanding judge, with more empathy as revealed in his videos on YouTube.
Last week, Caprio shared a short video on Facebook explaining that he had experienced “a setback.” He had returned to the hospital and asked people to keep him in their prayers.
On social media, his family described Judge Caprio as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. “Beloved for his compassion, humility, and unwavering belief in the goodness of people, Judge Caprio touched the lives of millions through his work in the courtroom and beyond. His warmth, humor, and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him,” ,” the family wrote.
Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee passed his condolences to the family. He said that Caprio will be remembered for his countless acts of kindness he inspired. “Judge Caprio not only served the public well, but he connected with them in a meaningful way, and people could not help but respond to his warmth and compassion,”McKee noted in a statement.
McKee statement added that Caprio was more than a jurist. “Caprio was a symbol of empathy on the bench, showing us what is possible when justice connects with humanity,” reads the statement.
Caprio’s collegue Robert Leonard, stated that Caprio was “going to be unforgotten” and was “all around wonderful.”
“There is nothing he wouldn’t do for you if he could do it,” Leonard added.
Judge Caprio is leaves behind his wife of nearly six decades, Joyce Caprio, along with their five children, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
