(ThePostNews) – School sexual assault allegations have led to the arrest of a 51-year-old Limpopo principal in the Lebowakgomo policing area.
The incident occurred at a local school in the Capricorn District. A 17-year-old learner returned to retrieve her cellphone, which a teacher had confiscated the previous week. Initially, she came with friends; however, the principal allegedly asked her to enter his office alone. There, he reportedly made inappropriate contact and sexually assaulted her.
After the incident, authorities received the report and referred the case to the Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit. Subsequently, police arrested the principal and charged him with sexual assault. He will appear in the Thabamoopo Magistrate’s Court on Thursday. The school serves learners from the surrounding community. Although incidents like this are rare in the region, the arrest is particularly alarming for students, parents, and educators.
School sexual assault remains a serious concern in South Africa. Therefore, authorities urge learners and parents to report any inappropriate behavior. The Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit investigates crimes against minors and ensures thorough follow-up.
Meanwhile, police continue to investigate the case and encourage anyone with information to come forward. As a result, the arrest has raised awareness among parents and school staff about the importance of strict supervision and safety measures. Overall, this case highlights the ongoing need for vigilance and prompt reporting to protect learners across the region.
