(The Post News)- Rapper Lil Nas X has pleaded not guilty to four felony charges from an incident where police claim he assaulted several officers. Authorities reported that they encountered the rapper, whose legal name is Montero Lamar Hill, walking naked in the middle of a street in Los Angeles.
By the time police arrived on the scene, the District Attorney’s Office reported that the 26-year-old singer was allegedly completely naked. When officers attempted to detain him, they claim he became aggressive and physically resisted arrest, allegedly injuring three officers in the process.
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office stated that Lil Nas X could face a prison sentence of up to five years if a court convicts him on the felony charges. Lil Nas X appeared before the court on Monday dressed in standard blue prison attire. When the judge explained the conditions of his bail, the singer confirmed his understanding with a simple, “Yes.”
Lil Nas X Bail Application
During a court appearance, the judge set bail at US $75,000 (approximately R1,308,915) and ordered Lil Nas X to enroll in and attend an outpatient drug rehabilitation program as a condition of his release. The court’s decision followed statements from the police suggesting that the rapper may have been under the influence of drugs at the time of the confrontation.
Officers involved in the case expressed concerns about his behavior during the incident, which they believed indicated possible substance use. Lil Nas X has not made any public comments about the charges, but his legal team insists that he will contest the allegations in court. The case is expected to proceed to a preliminary hearing in the coming weeks.
Christy O’Connor, the attorney representing the 26-year-old singer, firmly denied any claims of drug use, stating that authorities have presented no concrete evidence to support such allegations. “This was an isolated and uncharacteristic incident in an otherwise accomplished life.”
She emphasized that neither police nor prosecutors had produced test results, eyewitness accounts, or any physical proof indicating that her client, Lil Nas X, was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident.
O’Connor argued that without reliable evidence, any suggestion of drug use remains speculative and unfounded, and she urged the public and the media to refrain from jumping to conclusions before all the facts are thoroughly examined in court.
