(The Post News)- Bloom confirmed owner in $15M Montecito legal battle. In a dramatic twist, actor Orlando Bloom has been identified as the true owner of a mansion.
The same property at the center of a years long legal battle involving his ex-fiancée, pop superstar Katy Perry, and 84-year-old Army veteran Carl Westcott. The revelation emerged last week during courtroom testimony, shedding new light on the controversial sale that has drawn national headlines and intense public interest.
Perry’s long time business manager, Bernie Gudvi, took the witness stand and testified that Bloom, 48, personally purchased the luxury estate from plaintiff Carl Westcott. According to Gudvi, Bloom completed the transaction through a limited liability company (LLC) named after the daughter he shares with Perry, suggesting the purchase was made through a controlled legal entity rather than in Bloom’s own name.
Testimony On Orlando Bloom.
“I believe Mr. Bloom bought the house through some controlled entity,” Gudvi told the court while under cross-examination by Andrew Thomas, the attorney representing Westcott.
The testimony sheds new light on the high-profile property dispute, which has been unfolding for several years and has drawn widespread media attention due to the involvement of two prominent celebrities and the seller’s claims of mental incapacity at the time of sale.
When attorney Andrew Thomas asked Bernie Gudvi whether Bloom had secured the Montecito property in May 2024, Gudvi confirmed, “That’s correct.”
A document dated May 10, 2024, and filed with the California Secretary of State shows that Bloom, along with two of his business managers, created a limited liability company to complete the purchase. Interestingly, Katy Perry’s name does not appear anywhere in the filing.
Katy and Bloom ended their nine-year relationship in July. Within weeks of the breakup, the pop star was seen dining in style with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Perry, now 40, is set to testify in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Tuesday—the same day her daughter celebrates her fifth birthday.
Katy Perry’s upcoming testimony sparked intense debate in court last week after defense attorney Alex Lindhart requested that the pop star take the stand “out of order” on the trial’s opening day. Lindhart argued that Tuesday was Perry’s only available date due to her packed international tour schedule.
But Judge Joseph Lipner didn’t hold back, sharply criticizing the request. He called the move “really outrageous” and accused Perry’s legal team of creating an unfair tactical edge over 84-year-old plaintiff Carl Westcott.
Following Thursday’s testimony confirming Orlando Bloom as the true owner of the $15 million Montecito estate, plaintiff attorney Andrew Thomas accused the defense of trying to shield Bloom from testifying in court.
The legal dispute dates back to 2020, when Katy Perry agreed to buy the 9,285-square-foot home from 1-800-Flowers founder Carl Westcott. He had purchased it just two months earlier for around $11 million but later claimed he was mentally impaired by medication when he signed the deal.
Actor Chris Pratt, currently renting the estate with wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, has been named as a potential witness by Westcott’s legal team.
