(The Post News) – Jeremy Lin, the guard who once set Madison Square Garden alight with “Linsanity,” has officially called time on his basketball journey. The 36-year-old confirmed his retirement on Instagram, closing the chapter on a career that stretched across nine NBA seasons and another six overseas.
In his farewell, Lin admitted that walking away has been the toughest decision of his life. He reflected on living out his childhood dream, competing under the brightest lights, and proving that someone who looked like him could change perceptions in basketball. He thanked the countless people who supported him through the highs and lows, saying their belief carried him further than he ever imagined.
Lin’s unforgettable breakthrough in 2012 is still fresh in basketball memory. In the span of one magical February week, he torched the Nets, Jazz, and Wizards before exploding for 38 points against Kobe Bryant’s Lakers, a night that turned him into a global sensation.
While that run was never repeated, Lin built a steady journeyman career, suiting up for multiple NBA teams before reaching the pinnacle in 2019. With Toronto, he became the first Asian-American player to lift the NBA championship trophy, cementing a legacy that stretched far beyond numbers.
