(The Post News)– Andrea Berta has spoken on how Mikel Arteta became a hot topic after Arsenal’s intense transfer window. Eight new signings arrived at the Emirates as the Gunners wrapped up the window with a last-minute signing, Piero Hincapie. The center back is still waiting for his debut.
Berta on Mikel Arteta’s Transfer Plans
He revealed that Arteta’s strategy showed clear disagreements. Arteta wanted Joan Garcia as a goalkeeper. However, Barcelona signed Garcia for £21m. Berta felt relieved Arsenal missed out and pursued a cheaper option instead.
Arsenal eventually secured Kepa Arrizabalaga for £5m. The move surprised many fans because Kepa joined from a Premier League rival. Meanwhile, Garcia played three league games for Barcelona. Berta believed his choice was financially smarter for Arsenal.
He could not influence a major midfield transfer. Arsenal had nearly completed a £60m deal for Martin Zubimendi. If Berta had joined earlier, he would have chosen a different player. Reports linked Arsenal with Pablo Barrios and Lucien Agoume.
The Premier League confirmed Arsenal’s clash with Crystal Palace will now take place on Sunday, October 26, at 2 PM. The change occurred due to European commitments. Arsenal will host Atletico Madrid in the Champions League that week.
Arteta will now focus on Nottingham Forest after the international break. He aims to integrate new signings quickly. Arsenal fans eagerly await Piero Hincapie’s debut, while Kepa looks to impress as the new shot-stopper.
