(The Post News) – The MTN-8 “wafa-wafa” final set for Orlando Pirates and Stellenbosch Football Club encounter on September 13 at Mbombela Stadium, Nelspruit. Has sold out tickets on Monday 02 few hours after going out for sale.
Pirates has sold out tickets in all games played in the MTN-8 for 2025. First it was when it locked horns with Mamelodi Sundowns, who they knocked them out on penalties.
Stellies Head Coach, Steve Barker confirmed that the Cape Wine Lands will return to training for MTN-8 preparation. However, their centre back Thabo Moloisane will be excused due to the national call-up. “We gave players off till Wednesday, due to playing eight games in August,” Stated Coach Baker. He emphasized that the off was to refresh themselves and to prepare well for the MTN-8 final.
Baker believes that they will put behind them their poor performance for the start of the season. Stellies managed to get four points from the five matches played in the Betway Premier Soccer League (PSL) 2025/26 season. This is the second time Stellies meet Pirates in the MTN-8 final. Where they lost all those finals, marking a knock-out of 3-1 in Durban last year.
Meanwhile, Orlando pirates records the fourth consecutive year reaching MTN-8 finals. Which the last three years taking the trophy to Soweto, this could be their fourth title in a row if the win.
MTN-8 tickets went on sale Monday, same day they got sold out. Mbombela Stadium will be open at 2pm with ticket holders urged to arrive early. However, the match will start fout hours after gates opened at 6pm.
Football fraternity is looking for a strong line-up for the match, PSL has advised supporters who could not buy tickets to watch the highly anticipated match from home.
It was reported that tickets will not be sold on stadium, therefore South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) will bring the match live on SABC 2. Not forgetting that Supersport also brings live matches with languages of choice.
