(The Post News)- The Scorpion Kings lit up Loftus Stadium on August 29th; it wasn’t just fans who continued to rave about the unforgettable night.
Scorpion Kings headlined a spectacular event that drew nearly 50,000 attendees, delivering a show that has firmly etched itself into the memories of Amapiano lovers. One of the night’s biggest highlights came when Nigerian superstar Davido took to the stage as the surprise international act. His high-energy performance captivated the crowd, but it wasn’t just his music that got people talking; his bold fashion choice also drew widespread attention.
Davido expressed his excitement after the show through his social media platforms, referring to South Africa as his second home. “South Africa has always been home since the first day! Thank you for always showing love. Konke lokhu ngikwenzela nina (I do all of this for you), Pretoria, you did a wild one this time!”
In a powerful gesture of cultural appreciation, the “With You” hitmaker rocked a custom-made biker jacket featuring the South African flag. Designed by Hollyandroo, a US-based Liberian-Sierra Leonean designer, the jacket became a fan favorite. The Grammy Award-winning artist, along with the designer, also gifted similar jackets to staff members at Loftus Stadium—an act that earned him even more praise for his authenticity and thoughtfulness.
Scorpion Kings Live with Friends
The Scorpion Kings’ event, titled “Scorpion Kings Live with Friends,” unfolded in two dynamic segments. The pre-show, held during the day, featured performances from artists such as Blxckie, Christos, DBN Gogo, Dihno, Dlala Thukzin, Venom, and Vinny Da Vinci, who set the tone with electrifying sets.
The main show began on a heartfelt note with a prayer led by DJ Maphorisa’s mother, before a parade of Amapiano giants took the stage. Performers like Ami Faku, Aymos, Bontle Smith, Cassper Nyovest, Daliwonga, Kamo Mphela, and Mafikizolo delivered show-stopping performances, creating a night that celebrated not just music but the vibrancy and unity of South African culture.
From the powerful opening prayer to the grand finale, the event embodied everything that makes Amapiano a global force: community, creativity, and a deep connection to roots.
