(The Post News)- Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding has New Zealand officially throwing its hat into the ring to host what’s already being called “Pop’s Next Royal Wedding.”
The upcoming nuptials of a global pop icon and her fiancé, an NFL superstar. Following the couple’s much-anticipated engagement announcement earlier this month, New Zealand’s tourism board jumped into action, taking to Instagram with a light-hearted yet convincing pitch to bring the wedding to their scenic shores.
“This is our official petition for Pop’s next Royal Wedding to be hosted right here in Aotearoa New Zealand,” the post read, accompanied by the playful caption: “We think the Swifties would agree it’s the perfect backdrop for a star-studded ‘I do.’ Are you ready for it?”
The campaign highlighted a series of visually stunning potential wedding locations, including Fiordland’s dramatic mountain ranges, a romantic vineyard in Wānaka, the whimsical Ohaupō Tree Church, and tranquil lakeside vistas at Lake Erskine and Dublin Bay. Each setting offered a dreamy, cinematic quality worthy of a couple whose relationship has captivated fans around the world.
The post concluded with a personal message to the lovebirds and their fans alike: “A huge congratulations to @taylorswift and @killatrav; catch the bouquet in the comments to manifest your dream wedding down under.”
A Romance Straight Out of a Taylor Swift Song.
Taylor and Travis, both 35, confirmed their engagement with a charming joint Instagram post, captioned: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The message was a lighthearted nod to their contrasting public personas. Swift, the lyrical storyteller and pop queen, and Kelce, the charismatic tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Their romance first made headlines in September 2023, when Taylor was spotted cheering from the stands at one of Kelce’s games. At the time, fans quickly speculated about a budding relationship, but sources later revealed that the couple had already been dating privately for several months.
As their relationship grew more public, Swift became a fixture at Chiefs games, often seen in team gear and celebrating Kelce’s victories. In return, Kelce supported her on the road during her record-breaking Eras Tour, appearing at numerous shows around the globe.
Taylor Swift Says Kelce Was the Man She Always Sang About
In a rare candid moment, Swift opened up about her relationship during an appearance on New Heights, the popular podcast hosted by Travis and his brother, Jason Kelce. Reflecting on their connection, she shared how deeply aligned their relationship was with the romantic themes she’s explored throughout her career. “I was like, ‘If this guy’s not crazy, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.’”
This confession struck a chord with fans, many of whom have followed her through a string of high-profile relationships over the years, including with Harry Styles, Joe Alwyn, Calvin Harris, and Tom Hiddleston. But Swift has hinted that her bond with Kelce feels different—grounded, supportive, and inspired.
Will They Say ‘I Do’ in Aotearoa?
Although the couple has yet to reveal any official wedding plans, New Zealand’s public invitation has sparked excitement among fans and opened up a conversation about what kind of wedding the power couple might plan. Given Swift’s love of storytelling and picturesque aesthetics, it’s not hard to imagine her embracing the natural beauty and cultural richness of Aotearoa for a wedding unlike any other.
Whether or not the couple chooses New Zealand for their big day, the tourism board’s imaginative gesture has already won over Swifties and romantics alike and positioned the country as a dream destination for weddings, celebrity or otherwise. One thing is certain: with two megastars at the center of it, this wedding will be one the world won’t forget anytime soon.
