(The Post News) – Legendary singer Dionne Warwick has reassured fans about her recovery after cancelling and postponing several upcoming concerts due to what she described as “unbearable” pain ahead of a London festival appearance.
Earlier this week, organizers of the Soul Town Festival announced at the last minute that Warwick would not perform due to “unforeseen circumstances.” On Tuesday, the six-time Grammy winner released a statement revealing she had undergone emergency leg surgery on the day of the concert after experiencing severe pain. She told fans she is glad they caught it when they did, as “it could have resulted in something far worse.”
While some performances have been postponed, Warwick stressed there is no need for concern. On 5 September she took to X to share that she is “doing well, resting under medical guidance,” and expects to be back on stage once healed.
Warwick Admits She is Not Young Anymore
Now 84, Warwick admits she is “not 12 anymore” but insists she has no intention of slowing down. With a catalogue of timeless hits like Walk On By and That’s What Friends Are For, the singer reassures that she is just taking a break to mend and promises she will return to the mic to sing to her fans soon.
Dionne values her fans and performance quality, previously telling Metro that only when she feels unable to perform her songs as they should be performed will she “hang up [her] ballet slippers and slow down.” In the meanwhile, she asked fans for movie and show recommendations—“but not Emily in Paris,” she joked, adding, “Love you all.”
