(The Post News)– A shooting in Jerusalem on Monday left five dead and many others injured. The Israeli police services confirmed that the incident that occurred at Ramot Junction is a suspected “terrorist attack.”
Israeli police services on Monday confirmed that at least five people were killed and several injured in a suspected terror shooting attack at Ramot Junction in Jerusalem.
Earlier, two terrorists arrived in a vehicle and opened fire toward a bus stop. In response, a security force member and a civilian present at the scene fired at the terrorists, and they were neutralized, according to the police. Those injured were evacuated to receive medical treatment with varying degrees of injury.
The Deputy Commissioner of the Police arrived at the scene, and many police forces attended the scene. Police were collecting findings and evidence. Among those killed was a man in his 50s and three men in their 30s, Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s emergency response service, said, adding that five people with serious gunshot wounds had been taken to hospital.
The Jerusalem Post had said earlier that approximately 15 people were injured in the shooting. All entry and exits to Jerusalem have been closed. MDA paramedic Nadav Taib said when they arrived at the scene, they found people lying on the road unconscious.
According to Tabi, there was a lot of debris, shattered glass on the floor, and a lot of noise. They started offering health care to the injured, and they are presently treating and transporting the injured to hospitals. Meanwhile, MDA paramedic Shlomi Levy said, “I immediately began providing medical treatment to a woman about 70 who had penetrating injuries to her upper body.”
Levy further said that the woman was transported to the hospital in serious condition with the assistance of MDA first responders who were on the scene shortly. Following the evacuation, Levy said she continued to treat a woman in her forties. She was awake and had gunshot wounds to her upper torso. They gave life-saving care and airlifted her to the hospital, where she was listed as stable.
Jerusalem Shooting Prompts Netanyahu’s Case to be Rescheduled
The Jerusalen shooting attracted the attention of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived at the scene some two hours after the shooting. The prime minister was set to appear in court for his continuing corruption trial, which was postponed owing to security concerns. Netanyahu gave a grim warning that Israel is waging a war on three fronts: Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel.
During his visit to the scene, Netanyahu praised the soilder who killed the attacker, who was from the newly-formed unit for ultra-Orthodox soldiers. Reports indicated that hundreds of soldiers and security forces arrived at the scene to search the area for any additional attackers or bombs that may have been planted in the area.
