(The Post News) – Antiperspirant-deodorant brand Mitchum has issued an apology to customers across the UK, Ireland and South Africa who reported painful skin reactions, including burning, itching and irritation. The company has identified the affected batches, recalled them, and is removing them from shelves.
The issue has been traced to the 100ml Mitchum 48-Hour Roll-On. While the formula itself remained unchanged, a modification in the manufacturing process of one raw material altered how the product interacted with some users’ skin. Mitchum stressed that the change did not meet their standards or those of their customers. “We’ve gone back to the original process to make sure current and future batches meet them,” the company said.
In an Instagram post, Mitchum published the batch numbers of the affected roll-ons and explained how customers can identify them. Consumers who purchased the impacted products were advised to stop using them immediately. The company also urged anyone who experienced what they described as “temporary irritation” to contact the customer care team, as they want to rectify the matter.
Customers’ Reactions to Mitchum’s Roll-on
Although the company described the reactions as temporary irritations, customers have been vocal in reporting them as burns. UK TikTok user CoralleBelle shared a video showing images of her inflamed armpits while calling out the company, saying she had burns. Meanwhile, a South African X user, @___ying____ testified to a burning experience, commenting, “ohhhh, wow i really thought it was my shaving cream but i found it weird it only burnt my armpits and not when i use the cream on my legs, and this cream never used to burn me before i started using mitchum”.
