(The Post News) – On her first day as Sweden’s new health minister, Elisabet Lann fainted during a live press briefing on Tuesday. Earlier that day, Lann had been appointed as the successor to Acko Ankarberg Johansson, who resigned unexpectedly on Monday.
During the briefing with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and other senior officials, journalists captured Lann collapsing after she had finished speaking. In the footage, she appears to drift away and lose consciousness before falling forward, hitting the transparent podium, and collapsing to the floor. Journalists and officials immediately rushed to her aid.
According to eyewitnesses, she was then taken offstage by security, where she received medical attention before coming out a few minutes later. Lann explained that the collapse was due to a “blood sugar drop.” The Q&A session was understandably cancelled.
