(The Post News) – US President Donald Trump confirmed the death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk on Wednesday, Sept. 10, following a critical gunshot wound to his neck during a live event at Utah Valley University.
Videos circulating on social media show Kirk speaking about gun violence while seated under a white gazebo on an outdoor stage bearing the words “The American Comeback Tour” and “Prove Me Wrong.” Suddenly, a loud pop was heard. The left side of Kirk’s neck began gushing blood, and he fell back from his chair as the crowd scattered in panic.
The 31-year-old was rushed to a hospital by private security. His condition remained critical until Trump confirmed his death on Truth Social, writing, “No one understood or had the heart of the youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us.”
According to People magazine, his now-deleted last X post read: “WE. ARE. SO. BACK. 🔥🔥🔥 Utah Valley University is FIRED UP and READY for the first stop back on the American Comeback Tour.” Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin confirmed that Kirk’s wife and their two children, both under five, were also present to support him.
Kirk was a proud conservative, known for his political activism in high school, college, and university campuses. He founded Turning Point USA and hosted The Charlie Kirk Show during election cycles, which led to his close association with Trump. The pair often spoke highly of one another.
Police are actively looking for the suspected shooter.
