(The Post News) -It is reported that U.S. Vice President JD Vance will forgo the 9/11 ceremony in New York to pay respects to Charlie Kirk’s grieving family in Salt Lake City, Utah. The 31-year-old conservative activist was assassinated on Wednesday at Utah Valley University.
A reliable Daily Mail source reported that the vice president and his wife, Usha Vance, have cancelled his previous plans to visit New York City on the 24th anniversary of the terrorist attack. He and the second lady were expected to read out the names of the victims who died in the Osama Bin Laden-led attack. It remains unclear who will replace the pair in this role.
Kirk and Vance
Following the sudden death of his friend and confidant, Charlie Kirk, Vice President JD Vance posted a heartfelt tribute on X. The two had known each other since 2016, back when they were both still skeptical of U.S. President Donald Trump. He recalled how he learned about Charlie’s fatal shooting posting, “I was in a meeting in the West Wing when those group chats started lighting up with people telling Charlie they were praying for him.”
He described Charlie as a man guided by “faith,” courage, and “loyalty.” Calling him a “true friend,” he added that he always felt safe sharing anything with him because he knew it would remain private.
The Trump allies had collaborated on numerous occasions, including when Vance considered running for the Senate in 2021. The vice president praised Charlie’s political strategies and connections, noting, “Charlie was fascinated by ideas and always willing to learn and change his mind.”
