(The Post News) – The beheading case of an 80-year-old woman gripped the Durban High Court when defense objections disrupted the trial of 32-year-old Thabo Ntokozo Nzimande. He faces charges for killing and beheading his grandmother at their Pinetown home in June 2024.
From the start, tensions ran high. Prosecutors called the lead investigator to testify. However, defense attorney Emmanuel Chiliza objected and attacked the credibility of the evidence. Therefore, Judge Phumi Sibisi ruled the matter would continue as a trial within a trial.
Moreover, when the state brought in a family witness, the defense raised more objections. As a result, the process slowed further. Clearly, the beheading case of the 80-year-old has become a fierce legal battle, with both sides refusing to back down.
In addition, Nzimande claimed to feel unwell during the hearing. Because of this, the court adjourned until Monday. Each pause added new frustration and raised tension inside the courtroom.
Beheading Case Exposes Troubled Background
Beyond the legal disputes, disturbing details about the accused also surfaced. Nzimande moved in with his grandmother as a child after losing his mother. Furthermore, he began using drugs at 13 and later entered rehab in January 2024. Although he showed brief progress, he continued to struggle with anger and resentment.
Soon after the murder, police arrested him in bloodstained clothes at the family home. Consequently, prosecutors argued that evidence against him remained strong despite repeated objections. Therefore, the beheading case of the 80-year-old stands as one of KwaZulu-Natal’s most shocking trials. With heated disputes, health interruptions, and emotional testimony, the outcome remains uncertain.
Ultimately, the case continues to attract public attention, and each session adds another dramatic twist to the tragedy.
