Johannesburg to Host “I Am Dark & Lovely” Festival Celebrating Black South African Culture.
(The Post News)- Global amapiano sensation Uncle Waffles will headline the event, promising a performance that pushes creative boundaries and energizes the crowd.
Renowned for her genre-shaping sound and high-energy sets, she’ll lead a powerful lineup of the Africa’s most dynamic artists.
This November, Fox Street in Johannesburg will come alive with the “I Am Dark & Lovely” festival, an electrifying celebration of Black African culture, music, and identity.
Festivalgoers can expect to dance to the beats of house, gqom, hip-hop, and amapiano, delivered by heavyweights such as Nasty C, Young Stunna, Mörda, and DJ Lag. The stage will also feature explosive sets from Cassper Nyovest, Major League, DJ Zinhle, Kabza De Small, Kamo Mphela, and Zee Nxumalo, each bringing their unique sound and energy.
According to Bongi Manqele, Brand Business Lead for Dark & Lovely, the festival offers more than just music.
“We’re creating a space that celebrates Black South African identity from bold hair showcases to vibrant cultural expressions,” she said. “It’s all about connection, individuality, and the freedom to express yourself.”
Manqele described the festival as more than an event it’s a vibe, a lifestyle, and a celebration of South African pride.
“We’re giving people a platform to express themselves and celebrate their crown. Because when your hair looks good, you feel good,” she explained.
With her and an all-star lineup igniting the stage, Manqele promised that the festival would be a cultural highlight, uniting music lovers and style enthusiasts for a day of Mzansi magic.
