(The Post News) – Prince Harry dismissed accusations of family betrayal in his memoir Spare and Netflix series by saying his “conscience is clear” as he “didn’t air any dirty laundry in public”.
The Prince spoke to The Guardian on 12 September about his visit to Ukraine, detailing his plans and aims for the surprise trip to the war-torn country. In the latest sit-down interview published by the same publication, Harry defended his decision to speak out, arguing that his book was not an exposé but “a series of corrections to stories already out there.” He added that it was hard as it is “a difficult message,” but it was meant to hold people accountable “in the best way possible,” not for revenge.
Prince Harry Recounts Life Challenges
In Spare, Harry recounts the difficulties of life inside the monarchy, including his experiences with his father, who was depicted as cold and formal. The tell-all series, which featured his wife, Meghan Markle, expanded on his experience with family. He revealed how he was raised in Botswana by a second family, and the pair spoke on Meghan’s experience with the monarchy.
The couple, often the target of negative British press coverage, moved to California in 2020. Since then, Harry’s relationship with King Charles and Prince William has reportedly broken down. Last week, however, he reunited with his father in London for a private 54-minute meeting, his first in 20 months, before traveling on to Ukraine to help support injured veterans and civilians.
Prince Harry now says one of his priorities is spending more time with his 76-year-old father and returning to the UK more frequently. He emphasized his love for the country and its people while reserving his strongest criticism for the British media, which he accuses of distorting the truth and fueling hostility against him and Meghan.
His ongoing battle with the press will continue in court. Harry is suing Associated Newspapers, publisher of the Daily Mail, with the trial scheduled to begin in January.
