(The Post News) – Hitmaker DJ Calvin Harris has filed an arbitration demand against his former financial advisor, claiming he was defrauded of $22.5 million in a “boondoggle” Hollywood real estate project.
The demand, filed on September 12 in California and obtained on Tuesday by People, claims that Thomas St. John lured the DJ into funding a 460,000-square-foot studio and office space development known as the CMNTY Culture Campus. St. John allegedly withheld the true nature of the project and had Harris, whose real name is Adam Richard Wiles, sign “materially misleading” DocuSign forms.
According to the complainant’s legal team, the documents suggested the investment was being made through a company called Claimant Lewsi LLC, created by St. John on Harris’ behalf. However, after Harris invested a total of $22.5 million in two payments, the funds were allegedly transferred under St. John’s control.
The complainant’s lawyers argue that the How Deep Is Your Love hitmaker has received no financial returns and that the CMNTY Culture Campus has not been built. The demand further claims that in 2024, without Harris’ knowledge, the project was shifted to a residential housing development.
Additionally, the complainant’s team alleges there was an agreement to repay the first half of his investment by January 31 this year, but no payment has been made. His team describes the deal as “a complete fraud” or, at best, “a complete boondoggle.”
St. John’s attorney, Sasha Frid, denied the allegations, maintaining that Harris was fully aware of the investment and remains one of several backers. She argued that the DJ only turned to legal action after becoming dissatisfied with the project’s pace.
