(The Post News) – The Betway SA20 League has unveiled its innovative #SA20thPlayer campaign, appointing six of South Africa’s most recognizable influencers as social captains to strengthen fan engagement ahead of Season 4, which begins on December 26, 2025.
The campaign is designed to bring fans closer to their teams through exclusive digital content, giveaways, and playful rivalry banter. Each of the six franchises has been paired with a celebrity social captain who will act as a bridge between the players and supporters.
The Six Captains of Society selected influencers speak to a variety of cricket fans in South Africa for Durban’s Super Giants is Anele Mdoda, the Johannesburg Super Kings is Moshe Ndiki, Schalk Bezuidenhout for Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Nadia Jaftha with MI Cape Town, Leandie Du Randt for the Pretoria Capitals, and for Paarl Royalsis Vafa Naraghi.
Their roles will focus on generating buzz through social media campaigns, fan challenges, and team-focused storytelling, ensuring that supporters feel part of the action both on and off the field.
This fan-first initiative follows the player auction held in Johannesburg on September 9, where franchises spent a total of R22.8 million on under-23 talent. More than 500 players were shortlisted, with marquee names such as Aiden Markram and Shakib Al Hasan among the high-profile acquisitions.
MI Cape Town, crowned champions in the previous season, will enter the new campaign with strong momentum and the added digital energy of Nadia Jaftha. Whose large online following is expected to rally further support for the franchise.
