(The Post News) -A cyberattack on Collins Aerospace caused major disruption across Europe on Saturday, forcing flight cancellations and delays at numerous major airports.
Travellers are left scrambling as London Heathrow, Brussels, and Berlin confirm the “technical issue” that has shut down their automated check-in and boarding systems. Brussels Airport has announced that its staff is manually processing passengers during this unprecedented attack.
None of the airports has confirmed or estimated a timeline for how long it would take for the problem to be fixed. However, Brussels Airport insists that service providers are “trying to resolve the problem as quickly as possible.” Airlines are advising passengers to double-check their flight details before arriving at the airport.
The Berlin Airport website warned passengers to expect longer check-in times but reassured passengers, saying, “We are working on a quick solution.”
Those responsible for the cyberattack have not yet been identified. Collins Aerospace, a leading provider of airport “passenger processing and facilitation, airport operations, and baggage management” systems, has also not issued a formal update.
