(The Post News) – Things appear to be getting serious between Oscar Pistorius and his blonde-haired, blue-eyed girlfriend, Rita Greyling. The South African Paralympian has drawn renewed attention after being spotted in public with a woman who strikingly resembles his late girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, whom he shot and killed.
The romance rumors of the new pair sparked in December 2024, when the convicted Oscar was released on parole to his Waterkloof, Pretoria, home. It was speculated he would be spending the festive season with the woman, whom he had known for years and also lives in the same city.
On 19 September things were confirmed when the pair was spotted having lunch in a neighborhood cafe named the Goddess Cafe. A source said they appeared “deeply in love,” adding that he is “besotted” with her. The source told the Daily Mail that they were holding hands and gazing “lovingly across the table at each other.’.
What do we know about Pistorius’ girlfriend?
Rita Greyling is a 33-year-old managing consultant who comes from a wealthy family. Her father, Barend Petrus Greyling, is a wealthy farmer who fought in the Boer War and owns a 17,500-hectare family home farm in Wakkerstroom, Mpumalanga.
Rita holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Pretoria. In addition to her professional accomplishments, Rita has also worked as a model, similarly to Reeva.
According to her private X bio, she is excited by “God. Family. Fashion. Fitness. Art. Interior. People. Culture. Adventure.” Before she locked her other social media accounts, it was found that she also followed Oscar’s brother Carl Pistorius, feeding into the speculation that she had been a long-time family friend.
Oscar’s Next Chapter
According to Pistorius’ family and friends, the gold medalist is quietly ready to move on and has begun taking the next steps in his life. After almost nine years behind bars, he is volunteering at his local church and attending therapy as part of his parole requirements.
During this period, he has embraced religion and, according to a source, can see himself settling down and having children. Pistorius re-entered athletics at Durban’s triathlon, finishing 555th overall and earning third in the “physically challenged” category.
