(The Post News)- National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola is expected to testify at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Monday, 22 September 2025.
Masemola is expected to respond to Mkhwanazi’s explosive claims that there was “undue influence” behind the disbandment of the KwaZulu-Natal SAPS Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).
Mkhwanazi alleged that the decision to shut down the elite unit was politically motivated, aimed at protecting powerful figures from accountability. He further accused suspended Police Minister Senzo Mchunu of being “fully involved in the syndicate” linked to a string of crimes, and of deliberately undermining efforts to address political killings in the province.

Confirming Masemola’s appearance, Commission spokesperson Jeremy Michaels said on Sunday that the public will have full access to the hearing. “We can confirm that the National Commissioner of Police, General Fannie Masemola, will testify before the Commission of Inquiry on Monday.
“The public will be able to follow the hearing via livestream on the Commission’s website as well as various other radio, television, news and social media platforms,” Michaels said.
It is reported that the hearings are being held at the Brigitte Mabandla Justice College in Pretoria. Members of the public will be allowed to attend in person, provided they comply with strict entry requirements.
“We would also like to remind those members of the public who want to attend the hearing that they should bring along a valid Identity Document or Driver’s Licence, and that no weapons will be permitted on the Commission’s premises,” Michaels added.
