(The Post News)- The case relating to the late deputy president David “DD” Mabuza‘s R44 million life pay-out has been postponed to Tuesday, 30 September, in the Mpumalanga Division of the High Court.
Tamara demands that the funds should be used for her financial needs and also pay her a monthly allowance of R40 000 for basic maintenance, such as clothes, transport, and medical expenses. She said in her court paper that she was dependent on Mabuza’s medical aid, hence her demand for medical expenses to be covered from his pension fund.
“I was dependent on my father’s medical aid. It’s only fair that his pension funds continue to support my well-being,” Tamara said. In addition to the monthly allowance, Tamara demands the insurer pay R127 990 towards her tuition fees at the University of Cape Town until the matter is finalized.
During the proceedings, Adv. Doctor Sibuyi, representing Silinda, stated that Mabuza supported all his children during his lifetime, and it cannot be allowed that they are now depending on the state. Sibuyi added that “the R44 million pension should not be paid to Mnisi, who is believed to be the nominated beneficiary.”
Judge Johannes Roelofs said he cannot make a final decision based on the two conflicting documents. The court has been adjourned, and the matter has been postponed to next week Tuesday for further hearing.
