(The Post News) – Ahead of next month’s sentencing, Sean Diddy Combs’ lawyers are asking for the mogul to be sentenced for 14 months or less due to “inhumane” prison conditions. With the music mogul already behind bars for 13 months, the request would render most of his time served.
New York federal Judge Arun Subramanian received the written request from Combs’ legal team on Monday, 22 September. They outlined that the conditions at Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn are unlivable, and the rapper hasn’t “breathed fresh air in nearly 13 months or felt sunlight on his skin.”.
They alleged that the food served sometimes has maggots, Combs has been “subjected” to and witnessed violent incidents, and is routinely woken up every two hours as he is on “under constant suicide watch.” They add that he often has to heat his water to ensure that it is safe to drink and sleeps within “two feet from other inmates with the bathroom in the same room, with no door.”
Diddy Faces Prostitution Charges
On 2 July, the Bad Boy founder was found guilty of two counts of prostitution related to transporting his long-term former girlfriend, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, and another woman under the pseudonym “Jane.” He was acquitted of more serious sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy charges.
His lawyers demanded his immediate release, but Judge Arun rejected the proposed $50 million bail due to Diddy’s history of violence. Diddy’s lawyers are now insisting that he has been “adequately punished,” given that he had no prior criminal record and was placed in the prolific detention center under these harsh conditions. They also note “devastating consequences” and the scrutiny the trial imposed on his 7 children.
They argue that “it is time for Mr. Combs to go home to his family.”. Diddy’s sentencing will be on the 3rd of October 2025.
