(The Post News)- Patriotic Alliance (PA) deputy president Kenny Kunene has been cleared of any wrongdoing following a probe into alleged criminal activities. Reports indicate that he will now resume his duties at the party.
PA leader Gayton McKenzie announced that Kunene has been cleared of any wrongdoing after he was suspended for being found at a Santon home of Katiso ‘KT’ Molefe in July when police arrived to arrest the controversial businessman.
McKenzie took it to Facebook, saying, “They say his story corroborates. So the DP (deputy president Kunene) is innocent; they investigated him and interviewed people. You will see it for yourselves. I am giving it (the report) to Patriotic Alliance members. This is where you will get your news when they write stuff about you. To the DP, I want to say to you, I am so happy, my brother, my friend, my co-leader, thank you.”
After Kunene’s suspension, he also resigned from his position as the Johannesburg MMC and as a councillor. Pending the outcome of an internal investigation, McKenzie says he will be reinstated immediately. “The DP has found that his story checks out. Liam (Jacobs) will resign tonight as a councillor because he is moving straight to Cape Town. He’s going to live in Cape Town full-time because he has to travel around the country.
“To the DP, you have shown absolute leadership. When you were asked to step down from being an MMC, you asked me if you must also step down as a councillor, and I said yes. You never went out to badmouth the party. I want to say our DP is back,” McKenzie added.
PA Threatens to Pull Out of ANC Coalitions if Kunene Is Not Reinstated
PA threatens to pull out of its coalitions with the African National Congress (ANC) if Kunene is not reinstated to his position within seven days. “Within 7 days, if Kunene is not back in his position, every PA member in JB Marks [Municipality] and every PA coalition with the ANC will withdraw with immediate effect.
Stay one day, one hour after instructions have gone out that you must withdraw from every coalition we have with the ANC. We are not going to be told by Dada [Morero]. “Who does Dada think he is?” said McKenzie. McKenzie added that their deputy president, Kunene, is ready to resume his previous position.
