(The Post News)- The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that social grant payments will increase by R10 as part of October 2025 payment cycle.
SASSA announced the small increase in Thursday, 25 September 2025, citing that its following the budget tabled for 2025/2026 by Minister of Finance Enouch Godongwana. This will be the second increase this financial, as the first increase was done in April.
News Social Grants Amounts From SASSA
SASSA’s spokesperson Andile Tshona, has broken down the new monthly amounts, highlighting that there will be no interruptions in dispersing social grants to all eligible beneficiaries. “The social grant amounts will be increased by R10 in the 1st of October as follows: old age grants will increase from R2,310 to R2,320. Old age grants (older than 75 years) will increase from R2,330 to R2,340. War veterans’ grant will increase from R2,330 to R2,340. Disability grant will increase from R2,310 to R2,320. Care dependency grant will increase from R2,310 to R2,320,” said Tshona in statement.
SASSA CEO Themba Matlou welcomed the increment, emphasising that it is assisting beneficiaries from the ongoing economic challenges. “This reaffirms government’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable in society, easing financial burden and cushioning them against economic hardships,” said Matlou.
